Hylio, the largest agricultural drone company in the U.S., and Vololand, a technology sourcing company in Korea, have signed a strategic agreement for joint research and development of drone systems in the agricultural and defense sectors. The agreement was signed in Houston, Texas, U.S., where the world’s largest drone exhibition, ‘AUVSI Xponential 2025,’ is being held.
The two companies plan to accelerate the development of innovative drone systems through joint research and development of drone systems in the agricultural and defense sectors. In addition, Hylio is expected to contribute to the development of the Korean drone industry by ordering approximately $1 million worth of domestic drone parts, including FC (flight control unit), GPS, ESC (electronic speed controller), motor, propeller, battery, and GCS (ground control system) parts, through Vololand.
In addition, Hylio plans to introduce domestic FPV (first-person view) drone systems from Vololand to improve operational efficiency.
Vololand is a company that won the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Award in the K-Drone Delivery sector in 2024, and holds about 20 patents in Korea and the United States. It is also developing a new concept of drone K-motor and BMS (battery management system) to improve the flight performance efficiency of medium and large drones.
Meanwhile, Vololand has obtained TCB T3 grade certification from KODATA (Korea Evaluation Data), and recently attracted investment from BLTN Partners, a specialized investment company in original technology, and is growing with the goal of listing on the US NASDAQ market. This agreement was largely due to Daniel Laburda, CMO of Vololand USA, the US subsidiary of Vololand.
