This introduction is based on the official guidebook published by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development (KISED). Saudi Arabia is aggressively pursuing industrial diversification through its "Vision 2030" strategy, aiming to increase the private sector's contribution to GDP to 50%. With massive investment in smart cities (such as NEOM), manufacturing, and digital transformation, the Saudi government, through the Ministry of Investment (MISA), guarantees national treatment for foreign investors and the free remittance of profits, creating an optimal business environment.
For Korean startups, Saudi Arabia serves as a strategic hub for entering the Middle Eastern market. Many Korean companies in sectors like eco-friendly materials, smart mobility, and AI-based infrastructure diagnostics have already successfully entered the market with support from local government programs (e.g., CODE Gate) and accelerators like Misk and KAUST. While factors such as incorporation procedures and the Saudization policy must be considered, Saudi Arabia offers immense growth opportunities for innovative Korean enterprises, especially when leveraging public support infrastructure like the Riyadh GBC.
